FIBCs
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers provide a versatile and cost effective semi-bulk packaging solution
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) are made of industrial textiles (usually woven polypropylene and extruded polyethylene) and are typically built to hold 1,000 – 4,000 pounds of material. FIBCs are usually custom designed to meet each product’s specific characteristics and handling requirements.
FIBCs are durable, flexible, and inexpensive, and have acquired worldwide popularity and sustained growth in demand. They can be designed to meet just about any situation, are easily constructed from common materials, and are often able to be recycled for new life in future PP or PE applications.
Designing or selecting your FIBC depends on the product’s Bulk Density and other characteristics about how the product behaves during filling, transportation, and storage, as well as how it will be received on the other end of the supply chain.
These include a few key characteristics such as:
- Desired weight of product to be filled
- Whether or not the product is considered hazardous or dangerous
- The type of product or application – food, pharmaceutical, industrial chemical, and its barrier needs
- A product’s mesh size, flowability, or how fine or granular it is
- Filling and discharging methods
- Filling environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity
- And other characteristics and properties such as its Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE)
FIBCs come in many shapes and sizes and are suitable for use in many applications. Contact Us to talk more about your specific bulk packaging needs and whether FIBCs or some other type of container is right for you.
